Abstract: Hermeneutics, as a theory of understanding and interpretation typical of the human sciences, would be the larger frame, where the qualitative researcher might find his/her place. Both researcher and studied subject
converge on a relationship that shapes meaning. Some researchers will end at this point; others will indicate that this is reflected not only on the individual significance of the social practice of the subject, but also on his/
her sociocultural reality.
From the point of view of the narratives, what is narrated says something of the “who” that is in the action, and it allows for the exploration of the significant experiences of the daily life. What happens to human beings is
essentially historical.
In this article, important aspects of Paul Ricoeur’s philosophy are presented, and the hermeneutic form is exposed to study the narratives of the investigated subjects.
