Abstract:
As quality of life (QOL) is a term widely used by specialists of the most diverse disciplines, it has become difficult to define. Nowadays, it is considered a multidimensional and multidisciplinary concept which includes the presence of material and subjective-spiritual conditions, leading to the psychobiological and social-historical development of the human being as well as the personal satisfaction with life conditions that each person has achieved. The aim of this work was to carry out an exploratory study on the QOL of a randomly chosen sample of 450 subjects, of both sexes, resident in the provinces of Cuyo region -San Juan, Mendoza and San Luis-, aged between 20 and 70 years old. The study was performed over one year (2005-2006). The adapted version of the questionnaire WHOQOL-100 (Bonicatto, 1998) for Argentinean population was applied to obtain a QOL profile. The data were processed and analyzed by the statistical packet for social sciences (SPSS 12.0). Taking into account the place of residence, the analysis of the QOL aspects indicated few differences at subjective level, with respect to the perception about their QOL of the subjects of the three provinces.
