Abstract: The forced displacement is the greatest manifestation of the humanitarian and human rights crisis associated with the intensification of the irregular war in Colombia. This country is nowadays in the second place in the world
with the highest number of displaced people, being children the main victims. This work examines the study of the research group CRECER from the
Psychology Program of Universidad Surcolombiana de Neiva. It analyzes this problem from a qualitative approach. The sample was made of boys
and girls (between 8 and 12 years of age) displaced due to the Colombian armed conflict who found refuge in the city of Neiva, Department of Huila.
The results show that for the subjects of this research work, the forced displacement represents a process composed of multiple and simultaneous
experiences and affective states in tension and ambivalence, as well as a constant violation of their rights and basic needs. However, even in
these difficult circumstances, affectionate family ties and support of social networks represent an opportunity to build resilience and to construct new meanings in their life.
