Abstract:
This research work is aimed at inquiring into consumption patterns of addictive substances in adolescents of different social and economic levels. The sample made up of 280 adolescents of both sexes between 15 and 19 years old, was obtained from three high schools of San Luis city, Argentina. Two assessment instruments were applied: Alcohol Use Disorder Identification Test (AUDIT, OMS, 1993) and Drug Dependency Identification Questionnaire (CIDD, Fantin, 2004), devised ad-hoc. The results related to alcohol consumption indicated that adolescents from higher social and economic levels obtained higher scores in the AUDIT. Regarding drug use -legal and illegal substances, percentages were similar in thethree groups of the sample. Nevertheless, high and low economic level groups registered slightly higher percentages. Alcohol and tobacco were the main substances of choice
