Abstract: Considering the different research traditions as cognitive domains, the communication among those domains that have theorized on behavior is problematized. The differential philosophical positions (ontological and epistemological) underlying these domains have favored an operational closure which has hindered the exchange and discussion among researchers.
Some recurrent concepts of these different perspectives do not have univocal definitions and are significantly vague. This paper briefly analyses the uses of the notion of “association” and the way it has been applied by different schools of thought within Psychology and Ethology. Concepts like this one show an undeniably heuristic approach present in the construction
of transdisciplinary dialogues.
