Abstract:
This work explores some aspects of the complex climacteric/menopausal problematic within a wider research work on the symbolization processes of emotional experiences and the incidence of their disturbances in mental growth. The theoretical framework comprises the conceptualizations of postkleinian W. R. Bion and D. Meltzer within the psychoanalytical field. The aim of this work is to investigate the bond a group of climacteric women has established with their mothers in the course of their stages of development. A comparative analysis of the factors influencing in their decision whether to have children or not is carried out. Similarly, the possible incidence of these aspects in their symbolization of emotions during menopausal period is studied. The sample is non-random of accidental type made up of eighty-two climacteric women aged between 38 and 60 years old. Data were gathered by a self-administered questionnaire including a number of open and close questions by both qualitative and quantitative approaches.
