Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to share some of the ideas of illustrated books’ authors, and those that have arisen from different experiences of work with children, young people and adults in the activity of reading faciliation. The starting point of this paper is based on the review of certain key
concepts that will guide the analysis of experiences which have developed in several scenarios of reading facilitation. In these scenarios, some common elements have been found in relation to good books, good facilitators
and good reading opportunities. Working with a special type of book -the illustrated book- implies considering its particular characteristics, format and structure during the practice of facilitation. The different responses of children to illustrated books are analysed, and their voices are retrieved. Finally, we suggest that working with illustrated books in contexts of crisis or disadvantage is a future investment.
