Abstract: The body is a core category in diverse feminist theories; it even continues to be the trigger of various debates at present. The purpose of this paper is to draw a map across the work of three main representatives of the Feminist Theory: Simone de Beauvoir, Luce Irigaray and Judith Butler. First, we present the concepts of body which are characteristic of each author’s work. Then, the main differences among these three ideas are underlined. Finally, we face the challenge of finding possible similarities between these initially heterogeneous proposals, taking into account the idea of the body as a theoretical device which operates as a territory where the argumentative strategies of every system of ideas lie. We expect that the map proposed
allows for a shift from the question regarding what the body, ultimately, is, towards a conception that admits the proliferation of various bodies depending on the political and ideological views that underlie such a category.
